Patents and technology

Our international patents and technology team brings a focused and integrated approach to helping businesses enforce their rights against third parties, finding commercial solutions where appropriate, but litigating where necessary. We also help clients deal with third party patent assertions, analysing whether claims have any merit, preparing defences and, where possible, investigating work-rounds, counter-assertions and other commercial levers to prompt constructive settlements of disputes. Our team operates across the major European and Asian jurisdictions and, when acting on multi-jurisdictional litigation involving other firms, we frequently act as the international litigation co-coordinator, as well as local advisors.

On the non-contentious side, we advise clients who are preparing to invest in new businesses, products or technologies, based on the IP involved and on international IP exploitation.

Many of our lawyers hold advanced degrees in scientific disciplines, and are ideally placed to understand the technical issues arising in patent transactions and disputes.
