Claude B Stansbury has a wide ranging tax practice advising Fortune 500 companies on domestic and international restructurings, mergers, acquisitions and disposals as well as extensive experience of structured finance products.

Claude was educated at Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley, where he received his JD; the Edmund A Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of California in 1992 and the Bar of the District of Columbia in 1993. Prior to joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in May 2001, he was a partner at the Washington DC tax boutique Ivins, Phillips & Barker.

Claude is Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center teaching "Tax Planning for Corporate Acquisitions and Dispositions". He chairs the Corporate Tax Committee of the American Bar Association’s Task Force on Section 304 and is also a member of the International Tax and Finance Forum.
