The bank of the future

This report summarises developments in key global, European and UK regulatory reforms since our November 2009 report, The bank of the future.

Banks are facing numerous challenges in the aftermath of the financial crisis. It has become difficult to remain on top of even the most essential international, European and local initiatives for reform. To help our clients keep abreast of a constantly changing regulatory landscape, we have been publishing a series of reports and updates summarising the latest developments.

In March 2010 we published The bank of the future: an update summarising the principal global, European and UK developments in a number of key areas, including capital, liquidity, securitisation and resolution arrangements, in the four months following publication of our initial report (described below). Our November 2009 report, The bank of the future, is a comprehensive report written by specialists from our financial institutions group explaining how the various initiatives for reform, ranging from those emanating from the G20, the Financial Stability Board, the Basel Committee and the European Union to specific developments in the United States and the United Kingdom, will shape “the bank of the future”.

Our first report in the series, Unravelling the London G20 agenda, published in March 2009 to coincide with the London G20 meeting, reviewed the main global, EU and UK positions on key issues on the G20 agenda.
