Since 1 May 2008, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has converted most of its business to an English limited liability partnership (LLP), whose members have limited liability. This change has affected all our offices except those in Hong Kong, Japan and the US where, as appropriate, clients will continue to deal with our existing Hong Kong or Japanese entities or our US limited liability partnership.

While the business and assets of the firm have been transferred to the new LLP, this change of structure will affect neither the nature of the service we provide nor the identity of the people providing it.

The practical effect of the change is simply that, from the time of conversion, the client relationship will be with the new limited liability partnership. The existing firm stopped taking on new business on 30 April and the new LLP is now responsible to clients for all new and current work, rather than the existing firm or any of its partners. If you have any questions about this change, please speak to your usual contact at the firm.
